The Cuvu College Under-18 rugby team is focused on enhancing their performance, particularly in the scrums. Assistant coach Samisoni Navatu shared this insight yesterday following the team’s surprising 23-22 victory over the Vodafone Deans Trophy favorites, Ratu Kadavulevu School, in the quarterfinals.
Navatu acknowledged that despite their win, there remains significant potential for improvement. He described the match as a challenging encounter and expressed gratitude for the result, stating, “Glory to God for this win.” He emphasized that the team entered the match with the objective of winning, which they successfully achieved, crediting his players for their efforts.
The assistant coach also mentioned some confusion regarding the final score when officials initially declared RKS the winner. However, he expressed relief when the decision was overturned. He noted that while some players are still 17 years old, they were able to come together and secure the victory.
Navatu is encouraging the team’s loyal supporters to rally and attend the semi-final match against Nasinu Secondary School on Saturday.
