Culinary Showdown: Fiji’s First MSME Cook-Off Shines a Spotlight on Street Food Talent

Fiji held its inaugural Micro, Small Medium and Enterprise Cook-off, featuring twelve competitors from the food and culinary industry at the Paridiso Restaurant near Albert Park in Suva.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for MSME Manoa Kamikamica highlighted that the event serves as a platform for Fiji’s street food MSMEs, allowing them to gain the recognition they deserve and showcasing the impressive culinary talents within the community.

“This is an exciting event that re-creates the open street food setup akin to street food markets in various international destinations,” Kamikamica stated. He emphasized that the Cook-off offered street vendors the chance to learn, taste, and exchange culinary skills with renowned chefs present, helping them elevate their crafts.

The competition allowed local street food providers to highlight their unique dishes. Ultimately, Marauna Natural Food took first place, followed by Bula Bites in second and Samdhins Karahi in third.
