Cruise Waves: Suva Prepares for Exciting Ship Arrivals!

The Port of Suva is anticipating a handful of cruise ship arrivals this month as part of its monthly schedule. According to Cruise Mapper, four vessels are expected to dock: the Carnival Luminosa, Queen Elizabeth, Disney Wonder, and MS Zaandam.

Recently, the Carnival Luminosa spent a few hours at Suva during its 22-night Transpacific journey. Founded in 1972 by Ted Arison, Carnival Cruise Line transformed the cruise industry by making vacation experiences available to a broader audience.

The Carnival Luminosa, built in 2009 and registered under the Bahamas flag, has a price tag of approximately $1.24 billion. The vessel operates at a speed of 23 knots (43 kilometers per hour) and measures 294 meters in total length, with a gross tonnage of 92,720. It can accommodate between 2,260 to 2,712 passengers and has a crew of 1,050, providing a passenger-to-space ratio of 34.

Comprising 12 decks and 1,130 cabins, the ship underwent its last refurbishment in 2022 and was previously known as the Costa Luminosa. It is owned by Carnival Corporation and operated by Carnival Cruise Line.

In addition to the Carnival Luminosa, the Disney Wonder and MS Zaandam are scheduled to arrive on October 13 and October 22, respectively.
