The Port of Suva is anticipating several cruise ship arrivals this month according to the latest schedule. Four vessels are set to dock, including the Carnival Luminosa, Queen Elizabeth, Disney Wonder, and MS Zaandam.
Last week, Carnival Luminosa made a brief stop in Suva as part of its 22-night Transpacific journey. Founded by Ted Arison in 1972, Carnival Cruise Line has transformed the cruise industry by making vacation experiences more accessible to the general public.
The Carnival Luminosa, which was built in 2009, is registered under the Bahamian flag. The ship, valued at approximately $1.24 million, can cruise at a speed of 23 knots (or 43 kilometers per hour). It measures 294 meters in length, has a gross tonnage of 92,720, and accommodates between 2,260 to 2,712 passengers.
The vessel employs 1,050 crew members and has a passenger-to-space ratio of 34. It features 12 decks and includes 1,130 cabins. Last refurbished in 2022, the ship was previously known as Costa Luminosa. Carnival Luminosa is owned by Carnival Corporation and operates under Carnival Cruise Line.
In addition, the Disney Wonder and MS Zaandam are scheduled to arrive in Suva on October 13 and October 22, respectively.
