“Crowning Glory: Roselyn Sidal’s Inspiring Return to the Hibiscus Festival”

Roselyn Clair Sidal, who was crowned the 2017 Hibiscus Teen Queen, is set to make her return to the stage at the 68th annual Hibiscus Festival, this time competing in the esteemed Queens Category. This year, she is proudly sponsored by Island Accommodation, a cozy lodging option situated in the heart of Suva.

Currently 23 years old, Sidal is nearing the completion of her bachelor’s degree in social work and journalism, having attended Bhawani Dayal Arya College. Her studies reflect her dedication to public advocacy and community service.

Since 2013, Sidal has been involved in the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement Girls Program and actively promotes gender equality through her educational efforts and community involvement. In addition to her advocacy work, she is passionate about empowering women and girls in sports, participating in various teams, including the Senior Suva Women’s soccer team, Nasinu Netball, and Northland Tailevu Women’s Futsal.

Sidal also honors her Fijian heritage and South Indian roots through cultural expressions like singing and dancing, further enriching her community’s cultural landscape. Looking ahead, she aspires to establish her own nonprofit organization focused on leveraging creative arts for advocacy, believing in the transformative power of creative expression to address community issues and inspire change.

As Sidal competes in the Miss Hibiscus 2024 pageant, she is backed by the festival’s Gold Sponsors, FMF and Vodafone.
