Melania Tora, crowned Miss Hibiscus 2024, expressed her gratitude to God as the best way to celebrate her victory. The 24-year-old marked her crowning by spending quality time with her family and attending church, thankful for the support she has received on her journey.
Reflecting on her preparation, Tora shared that it involved a demanding process that included fasting, prayer, and studying past Hibiscus queens to inform her advocacy efforts. She highlighted her commitment to addressing mental health, linking it to various social issues, including drug addiction, HIV/AIDS, and domestic violence.
“I’ve faced anxiety and struggled with depression for much of my life, and I know that’s hard to believe,” she stated, acknowledging her understanding of feelings of hopelessness.
Tora also praised the camaraderie she found among fellow contestants and commended the event organizers for their attention and planning, despite some minor challenges.
She added, “I’m definitely going to Sabeto to celebrate. I’m excited to celebrate with my family and to see what the Lord has in store for me.”
