Manshika Prasad, recently crowned Miss Universe Fiji 2024, found herself at the center of controversy just days after her victory announcement at a lavish private party. Allegations of vote rigging, sexual assault, and financial misconduct emerged, complicating her win and stirring public confusion.
While facing a barrage of media scrutiny stemming from a rival contestant’s claims, Ms. Prasad maintained a dignified silence. The young queen, at 23 years old, chose not to engage in social media disputes, as her competitor launched a series of serious accusations, including insinuations that touched on racial issues.
However, clarity returned when Ms. Prasad took to Instagram to confirm her participation in the upcoming Miss Universe International pageant in Mexico, sharing an elegant photo of herself in a chic white gown, accompanied by her crown and sash. “Counting down days until I’m in Mexico for the 73rd Miss Universe,” she posted, adding, “I am going officially as stated by Miss Universe Organisation. See you in Mexico.”
This latest development follows months of rivalry, especially after Nadine Roberts, another contestant with connections to Fiji, publicly sought to challenge Ms. Prasad’s title. Issues regarding potential conflicts of interest related to Ms. Roberts’ ties with the event’s licensee have arisen, yet efforts to obtain comment from her have gone unanswered.
Now residing in Australia, Ms. Prasad shared that she is fully focused on preparing for the pageant. An advocate for women’s rights, she is also pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration.
