Crowned Queen or Controversial Rival? The Miss Universe Fiji Saga Unfolds

Manshika Prasad, recently crowned Miss Universe Fiji 2024, found herself in the midst of controversy just two days after her victory. Following a lavish announcement party, allegations of vote rigging, sexual misconduct, and financial improprieties cast a shadow over her title.

Despite the turmoil, Prasad remained composed as a rival contestant launched a prolonged media campaign against her. While the accusations grew more serious, including suggestions of racism, Prasad chose not to engage in online disputes.

However, clarity emerged as Prasad addressed the situation on Instagram, sharing a stunning photo of herself in a sleek white gown, crown, and sash. “Counting down days until I’m in Mexico for the 73rd Miss Universe,” she wrote. She also reaffirmed her status, stating, “I am going officially as stated by Miss Universe Organisation. See you in Mexico.”

These developments follow a month after rival contestant Nadine Roberts publicly disputed Prasad’s title. With familial ties to Lau, Roberts has been vocal about her claims, raising concerns about potential conflicts of interest involving the event’s licensee. Efforts to reach Roberts for comment went unanswered prior to publication.

Currently in Australia, Prasad is diligently preparing for the upcoming pageant, all while advocating against violence toward women and girls. She is also pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
