Manshika Prasad recently faced a tumultuous situation as the crowned Miss Universe Fiji 2024. Just two days after the announcement, confusion arose when a rival contestant challenged her title, claiming that irregularities surrounded the competition. Allegations emerged, including accusations of vote rigging, sexual assault, and financial improprieties, creating a storm of controversy.
In the midst of this public upheaval, Prasad maintained her composure and chose not to engage in a social media war with her rival. She remained silent despite the heavy burden of the accusations directed at her, and the public was eager for her response.
On Instagram, the 23-year-old Prasad shared a photo of herself in an elegant white sleeveless gown adorned with her crown and sash, reaffirming her position. “Counting down days until I’m in Mexico for the 73rd Miss Universe,” she wrote, adding, “I am going officially as stated by Miss Universe Organisation. See you in Mexico.”
This announcement aimed to clarify her status as the legitimate representative while also hinting that she would not be undermined by the rival’s claims. This latest development follows a month of turmoil sparked by rival contestant Nadine Roberts, who sought to contest Prasad’s title openly.
Roberts, connected to Fiji through her mother’s lineage, has faced scrutiny regarding potential conflicts of interest related to the event’s licensee. Several questions posed to Roberts about these issues went unanswered prior to the publication.
From Australia, Prasad mentioned that her preparations for the international pageant in Mexico were progressing well. She is also known for her advocacy against violence towards women and girls, while pursuing her Master’s in Business Administration.
