Manshika Prasad, recently crowned Miss Universe Fiji 2024, faced an unexpected controversy just days after her victory, sparking confusion among followers and attendees of her coronation celebration. Allegations including vote rigging, sexual assault, and financial improprieties emerged, adding to the turmoil surrounding her title.

Despite the backlash, 23-year-old Ms. Prasad maintained a composed demeanor, choosing not to engage in a public feud with a competing contestant who leveled severe accusations against her. As the reigning queen remained silent in the face of these claims, speculation grew among the public regarding her response.

However, Ms. Prasad took to Instagram to clarify her position, stating, “Counting down days until I’m in Mexico for the 73rd Miss Universe,” accompanied by a striking image of herself in a stylish sleeveless gown adorned with her crown and sash. She aimed to quell the confusion about her representation at the upcoming international pageant with her concise message: “I am going officially as stated by Miss Universe Organisation. See you in Mexico.”

This clarification comes in the wake of a month filled with public disputes initiated by rival contestant Nadine Roberts, who sought to challenge Ms. Prasad’s title. Roberts, who connects to Fiji through her mother’s family, has made her claims regarding the Miss Universe Fiji 2024 title vocal, despite concerns raised about her potential conflict of interest related to the event’s licensor. Multiple inquiries directed to Roberts were left unanswered.

From Australia, Ms. Prasad expressed that her preparations for the pageant in Mexico are progressing well. She is also noted for her advocacy against violence toward women and girls and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
