Manshika Prasad, recently crowned Miss Universe Fiji 2024, experienced a whirlwind of events just days after her coronation, as confusion and controversy arose surrounding her title. Following her win announced at a lavish private party, allegations of vote rigging, sexual assault, and financial misconduct surface, igniting a media storm.

Amidst the chaos, Ms. Prasad maintained a dignified silence despite facing public scrutiny from a rival contestant, Nadine Roberts. Roberts launched a prolonged media offensive aimed at undermining Ms. Prasad’s victory, which only fueled public speculation regarding the legitimacy of the crown.

At just 23 years old, Ms. Prasad chose not to engage in online disputes, standing firm as the focus shifted from her to the unfounded allegations made by Roberts. However, Ms. Prasad took to Instagram to quell mounting speculation, sharing her excitement for the upcoming Miss Universe International pageant in Mexico. “Counting down days until I’m in Mexico for the 73rd Miss Universe,” she posted, adorned in a stunning white sleeveless gown, emphasizing that she would officially represent Fiji as confirmed by the Miss Universe Organisation.

The controversy intensified after Roberts asserted her intention to dethrone Ms. Prasad, raising concerns about potential conflicts of interest connected to the event’s licensing. Roberts’ claims, largely unsupported, left unanswered questions in the media.

Currently in Australia, Ms. Prasad expressed that preparations for the international competition are in “full swing” and reinforced her commitment as an advocate against violence toward women and girls. She is also pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
