Crowned and Challenged: The Miss Universe Fiji 2024 Saga Unfolds

Manshika Prasad, crowned Miss Universe Fiji 2024, found herself in a whirlwind of controversy just days after receiving her title. Following her crowning at a lavish event, allegations of vote rigging, sexual assault, and financial misconduct surfaced, sparking public confusion and debate.

Despite the turmoil, 23-year-old Prasad remained composed amid these accusations, particularly from a rival contestant who launched a sustained media onslaught against her. While the legitimate queen faced intense scrutiny, her silence only fueled public speculation.

Prasad chose not to engage in social media disputes, focusing instead on her upcoming responsibilities as a titleholder. The narrative became centered around a reigning queen and a rival making serious, and in some instances racially charged, claims against her.

However, clarity arrived when Prasad took to Instagram to quell the speculation regarding her representation at the Miss Universe International pageant. Sharing a poised photograph in a chic white sleeveless gown, she affirmed, “Counting down days until I’m in Mexico for the 73rd Miss Universe.” She added, “I am going officially as stated by Miss Universe Organisation. See you in Mexico.”

This development follows rival contestant Nadine Roberts’ persistent efforts to contest Prasad’s title. Roberts, who has familial ties to Fiji, had been vocal about her aspirations for the Miss Universe Fiji 2024 title, despite concerns over a conflict of interest regarding the pageant’s licensing.

In recent discussions from Australia, Prasad mentioned that preparations for the upcoming competition in Mexico are in full swing. She is also an advocate for women’s and girls’ rights and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
