Manshika Prasad, the newly crowned Miss Universe Fiji 2024, recently found herself at the center of controversy just days after her victory was announced. Following a lavish private party celebrating her win, allegations of vote rigging, sexual assault, and financial misconduct surfaced, stirring confusion among her supporters and guests.
In the wake of an intense media attack launched by a competing contestant, Prasad maintained a calm and dignified silence, despite facing heavy scrutiny. The situation escalated as her rival continued to make accusations, even hinting at potential racism, which left the public in turmoil over the legitimacy of Prasad’s title.
However, Prasad recently addressed the concerns via social media, posting an elegant photo of herself in a sleeveless white gown, adorned with her crown and sash. She confirmed her participation in the upcoming Miss Universe International pageant in Mexico, stating, “I am going officially as stated by Miss Universe Organisation. See you in Mexico.”
This response comes after rival contestant Nadine Roberts attempted to challenge Prasad’s title, claiming to have ties to the Miss Universe Fiji title through her maternal lineage in Matuku, Lau. Concerns regarding Roberts’ potential conflict of interest with the event’s license holder have been raised, but questions sent to her have gone unanswered.
Speaking from Australia, Prasad shared that her preparations for the Miss Universe competition are progressing well. In addition to her pageantry, she is an advocate for women’s rights and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
