Divisional operations are successfully uncovering alleged proceeds from crime associated with illegal drug activities. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, highlighted that recent cash seizures linked to criminal activities represent significant progress in efforts to disrupt and dismantle drug networks.

In the previous week, several raids resulted in the confiscation of funds believed to be obtained through unlawful means. These operations are crucial as they aim to target the financial aspects and assets of these networks, which can effectively help diminish the supply chain of illicit drugs.

While Driu acknowledged that the scale of these seizures may be lesser compared to larger countries, he emphasized the importance of each seizure in eradicating the profit generated from illegal activities. “Every dollar earned through illegal means matters; diminishing these profits is key,” he stated.

The recent surge in arrests and confiscations underscores the Fiji Police Force’s steadfast commitment to battling the illegal drug trade, made possible through collaboration with stakeholders and support from the community.

This proactive approach shows promise in combating drug trafficking, fostering a safer environment, and highlighting the critical role community involvement plays in increasing the efficacy of law enforcement efforts.
