Divisional taskforces are actively dismantling alleged marijuana farms as part of their ongoing festive season operations aimed at disrupting illegal networks.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu reported significant progress in these efforts, with Savusavu Police recently seizing more than 200 marijuana plants during a raid in the Viani farming area. Additionally, another raid in the Navosa highlands resulted in the confiscation of over 1,000 plants believed to be marijuana, with the owners of these farms still to be identified.

ACP Driu expressed optimism regarding the impact of these seizures, stating they contribute positively to the ongoing efforts to curb the supply of drugs, particularly those that were being prepared for distribution.

In tandem with rural operations, law enforcement is also conducting successful raids in urban areas. This morning, ACP Driu announced a successful operation at a carrier stand in Suva, where several parcels containing dried leaves suspected to be marijuana were seized from two vehicles. The investigation is ongoing, and suspects from this incident are now in custody.

The Assistant Commissioner affirmed the Fiji Police Force’s commitment to persistently disrupt and destabilize illegal networks, emphasizing that any attempts to hinder their policing efforts will be futile.

This determined approach not only signals a strong stance against drug-related activities but also enhances community safety, particularly during the festive season when illicit activities can often spike. By continuing this momentum, law enforcement aims to foster a safer environment for all citizens, reinforcing the message that such criminal activities will not be tolerated.
