A recent police operation led to multiple arrests in connection with drug-related activities across different regions, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to combat substance abuse in the community.
During a raid at the Mead Road housing complex, one woman was apprehended following the discovery of several large zip-lock bags filled with dried leaves and over 100 branches, all believed to be marijuana. The operation was conducted by a collaborative team from the Southern Division’s Serious Organized Crime and Intelligence Department, the K9 unit, and Crime Intelligence.
Additionally, an operation in Draubuta, Tailevu, resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old man. Authorities found dried branches and leaves suspected to be marijuana on his property, and further searches unveiled marijuana plants growing on his farm.
In a separate raid at the Nanuku Settlement in Vatuwaqa, police recovered a zip-lock bag containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine, alongside a bag of dried leaves thought to be marijuana. Four men were arrested during this operation, and stolen electronic devices were also seized.
Another individual, a 28-year-old man, was arrested along Rodwell Road for possessing dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu highlighted the Fiji Police Force’s dedication to disrupting the supply of illicit drugs through targeted raids. He stated that these efforts are part of a broader initiative to create awareness of drug abuse’s harmful effects through Community Policing.
