Police in Navua have arrested two 35-year-old men following the discovery of dried marijuana leaves and methamphetamine during recent snap checks conducted in various divisions. The arrests were part of a larger operation aimed at enhancing public safety and combating drug-related offenses.

The first batch of arrests took place last Wednesday by the Southern Division Crime and Intelligence Unit, along with the K9 and Fiji Detector Dog Unit, during a raid in Raiwai near Suva City. Police seized substances believed to be methamphetamine, items suspected to be stolen, and both foreign and local currencies. A woman was also apprehended alongside the two men; all items seized are currently being analyzed.

In addition to the Raiwai operation, police activity extended to Savusavu, where officers at a roadblock discovered a black bag containing dried leaves thought to be marijuana in a bus’s luggage compartment. Moreover, two individuals were taken into custody in Nadi on Monday night after marijuana was found during a similar snap check on Sabeto Road.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized that these snap checks are proving effective, and efforts will continue across the five police divisions. This ongoing crackdown is a critical step in not only addressing drug-related issues but also ensuring community safety and wellbeing.

In summary, police operations are demonstrating positive outcomes in the fight against drug offenses, showcasing the commitment of law enforcement to maintain public safety. As these initiatives continue, there is hope that community awareness and support will also rise, leading to safer neighborhoods.
