Courtroom Chaos: Judge Issues Warning to Frustrated Defendant

A man who directed profanity at a High Court judge received a final warning for his conduct. Tomasi Bose appeared before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere at the Suva High Court facing charges of robbery and serious assault. He expressed remorse for the offensive language he used during a previous court session when the judge suggested he seek legal representation. Although he had declined the suggestion twice, he became frustrated and used vulgar language when urged to consider it again. Justice Tuiqereqere warned Mr. Bose that if he repeated his disruptive behavior, alternative measures would be taken to handle his case. Additionally, State prosecutor Zenith Zunaid opposed Mr. Bose’s request for bail, to which he must respond by Friday. The hearing has been postponed until September 17.
