Two men are set to appear in the Nasinu Magistrates Court today, facing charges from the Fiji Police Mpaisa Task Force for separate incidents involving Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception.
The first case involves a 36-year-old man from Wailea, Vatuwaqa, who allegedly deceived a victim on May 21, 2023, by claiming he had mistakenly sent a One Time Pin (OTP) and requested the details back. After receiving the OTP, he reportedly transferred $447, which he later withdrew for personal use.
In a different incident, another 36-year-old man from Koronivia is accused of dishonestly acquiring $190 from a victim on November 17, 2023. The victim had responded to a Facebook post about a car for hire and sent the deposit to the provided number. The accused allegedly misused the funds without delivering the promised service.
Both individuals will face the court today.
