A man accused of murdering a woman in Raiwaqa, Suva last month made his first appearance in the High Court in Suva yesterday. Anare Vuli Cilicewa, 31, is facing one charge of murder. It is alleged that on September 9, he killed Sabreen Shahib Ali in Raiwaqa.
During the court proceedings, Cilicewa stated that he has not secured legal representation yet, but has submitted an application for assistance from the Legal Aid Commission.
State Prosecutor Zenith Zunaid informed the court that they require seven additional days to provide complete disclosures related to the case. He mentioned that further police investigations are still ongoing, and additional information will be presented in the next court session.
The case has been adjourned until October 16 to allow for updates regarding Cilicewa’s legal representation and the completion of disclosures. Meanwhile, his production order has been extended. Before the adjournment, Mr. Zunaid noted he would be attending a different court for another case but would ensure that another prosecutor would appear on his behalf.
