The High Court in Lautoka has approved a temporary relaxation of bail conditions for businesswoman Ana Masere, permitting her to utilize social media to promote a forthcoming business event. In a ruling made on February 26, 2026, Justice Sunil Sharma granted Masere’s request to access her TikTok account for marketing purposes related to the “Hope Carnival.”

Masere had previously received conditional bail from the Nadi Magistrates’ Court on October 8, 2025. One of the existing conditions restricted her from using TikTok to share any information regarding the allegations against her, whether directly or indirectly, including through anonymous accounts or third-party outlets.

Through her lawyer Mohammed Saneem, Masere emphasized the importance of her TikTok account, @eventsfiji, in disseminating information about the upcoming carnival. The court acknowledged this request and allowed her to temporarily relax the bail conditions from February 26 to May 16, 2026. However, the usage of her TikTok account is strictly limited to marketing the carnival’s entertainment lineup, sponsors, and program details.

In this ruling, Justice Sharma mandated that the account remain focused solely on carnival promotion, disallowing any personal expressions or discussions on the platform during this period. Furthermore, all comments and talkback features must be disabled to ensure that posts remain view-only. Live broadcasts are permitted only in relation to the event, and Masere may appoint a representative to manage the account, with the understanding that they are fully briefed on the court’s conditions.

The court made it clear that once the relaxation period concludes on May 16, the original bail terms will be reinstated fully, emphasizing the critical need for compliance with these directives.

This decision marks a significant moment for Masere as it allows her to actively engage in promoting a community-focused event, reflecting a broader commitment to the vibrant local business landscape while ensuring legal boundaries are respected.
