Corruption Charges Escalate for Former Fiji Broadcasting Leaders

Suva Magistrate Krishnan Prasad has instructed the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption to provide former Fiji Broadcasting Corporation chief executive Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and chief financial officer Vimlesh Sagar with second phase disclosures by 4:30 pm today. The case was discussed before Magistrate Prasad this morning.

The court noted that Sagar, who is currently out on bail, does not have a second surety recorded. Sayed-Khaiyum faces charges of one count of abuse of office and one count of general dishonesty resulting in a loss, while Sagar is charged with one count of general dishonesty resulting in a loss.

In a separate case, Sayed-Khaiyum is also facing similar charges, creating a complex legal situation for both individuals. The case has been postponed until 31 August 2024 for a plea hearing, and Magistrate Prasad has returned the matter to Court One.
