Corrections Officer Caught Smuggling Contraband – Shocking Discovery!

The Fiji Corrections Service has confirmed the arrest of a Corrections Officer who was caught trying to smuggle illicit drugs and mobile phones into the Minimum Correction Centre during his second shift as a night guard.

The officer was found in possession of marijuana, two mobile phones without SIM cards, and an 80 cm long suki during a routine shift change.

Suspicion had already been raised regarding his possible involvement in smuggling contraband for inmates.

Other officers, who had been keeping an eye on his activities, approached him when he attempted to return to his post.

Upon searching him, they seized the contraband and discovered two mobile phones in his bag.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody and his statement was recorded. He is currently being held at the Emergency Control Unit base pending further investigation and will face disciplinary action.

The Fiji Corrections Service strictly enforces a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of misconduct and contraband smuggling within its facilities.
