A police officer named William Mckay has been charged with unlawful possession of illicit drugs after a significant quantity of marijuana was discovered at his residence. Specifically, authorities found approximately 40.07 kilograms of marijuana, consisting of 6,037 branches of dried leaves, during a search executed based on a tip-off. Mckay appeared in front of Magistrate Pulekeria Low at the Suva Magistrate’s Court, where he was granted bail set at $1,000.

As part of the bail conditions, Mckay is required to reside in Navua with one of his sureties and report to the local police station twice a month. A stop departure order has also been issued, which highlights the court’s concern regarding the case.
