The Cook Islands are still in the race for a place in the Netball World Youth Cup 2025, despite suffering a defeat against Tonga on the second day of the Oceania World Youth Cup Qualifier at the National Sports Arena in Nikao.

After a successful match against Papua New Guinea on Monday, where they won 63-45, the Cook Islands faced Tonga in hopes of securing a top-three finish to qualify for the World Cup.

The match was fast-paced, with Tonga showcasing their strength and emerging victorious with a score of 66-44.

In other news, the Fiji Baby Pearls had a challenging debut, losing to the well-organized Tifa Moana Samoa under-21 team, with a final score of 51-32.

The team, coached by Simone Nalatu, is set to play again today against Tonga Tala at 5:15 pm.
