High-scoring Xavier shooting guard Ryan Conwell is set to transfer to Louisville, as confirmed by multiple reports on Tuesday. Conwell made the decision to enter the transfer portal following the departure of Xavier coach Sean Miller, who took a position at Texas. Alongside Louisville, Conwell was also weighing a potential transfer to Indiana.
This marks Conwell’s fourth school in four seasons. He began his collegiate career at South Florida for the 2022-23 season before moving to Indiana State for the 2023-24 season, where he was a standout player. In his time with the Sycamores, Conwell averaged 16.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists over 38 starts, contributing significantly to the team’s run to the NIT final after narrowly missing the NCAA Tournament.
Conwell continued to perform at a high level at Xavier, averaging 16.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting an impressive 41.3 percent from three-point range over 34 starts. Throughout his career, he has accumulated averages of 13.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists over 104 games (93 starts), with shooting percentages of 44.7 overall and 39.3 from beyond the arc.
In addition to Conwell, Louisville recently added Kennesaw State guard Adrian Wooley, who had an exceptional freshman season, averaging 18.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. Wooley was recognized as the Conference-USA Freshman of the Year and received first-team All-CUSA honors.
The addition of talented players like Conwell and Wooley is a promising development for Louisville as they aim to enhance their team dynamics moving forward, setting the stage for an exciting upcoming season. With a fresh start and new opportunities, Conwell’s transition to Louisville could open doors for further success on the court.
