Controversial Loss Leaves Boxer in Tears: A Call for Justice

Krishnil Mudaliar was visibly upset after losing a disputed points decision to Junior Binnu Singh at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Saturday night, which was for the WBF Australasian featherweight title. An emotional Mudaliar, a former champion in both the bantamweight and super featherweight categories, expressed his disappointment, stating, “This is daylight robbery and this decision needs to be reviewed.”

The Suva boxer utilized his reach advantage throughout the match, effectively keeping Singh at a distance with his jabs. “The commission needs to review and then declare the correct winner. I should be ahead on the scorecard. He (Binnu) never won any round; from round one to eight, it was all my rounds,” Mudaliar claimed.

The judges’ scores were Fatu Tuimanono at 77-72, Jone Loloma at 78-72, and Rahul Sami at 77-75, all favoring Singh. Prior to the bout, Mudaliar had emphasized the need for fairness in officiating.

Mudaliar expressed his readiness to face Singh in a rematch for the title, urging the commission to order one. Singh, however, disclosed that he plans to compete against international opponents next, dedicating his victory to his late grandfather, Jaswant Singh, who passed away the previous week. Singh stated, “He was my dad’s father and a great motivator in my career. This win is for him,” and mentioned that the fight unfolded according to their strategy, acknowledging Mudaliar’s toughness.

Looking ahead, Singh confirmed he would be participating in a boxing event under Bluewater Boxing Promotion in November.

In other fight results from the night, Siliveni Nawai and Semi Tui fought to a draw; Rakuro Daunivavana won by TKO in the third round against Ronald Naidu; Samuela Naqari defeated Kolinio Luvelolo on points; Masitoqi Rokotuva finished Mohammed Ali by TKO in the third round; Junior Manna and Lepani Levatia ended in a draw; Jnr Abhay Chand won by TKO in the second round against Tomasi Vunavou; Azhar Khan triumphed over Nitin Lal; and Mohammed Nafiz defeated Shefrazud Dean.
