Controversial Decision Leaves Boxer in Tears: What’s Next for Mudaliar?

Krishnil Mudaliar expressed deep disappointment after losing a contentious decision to Junior Binnu Singh for the WBF Australasian featherweight title at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Saturday night. Tearfully, Mudaliar, who has previously held the Fiji bantamweight and super featherweight titles, described the decision as “daylight robbery” and called for a review.

The Suva boxer, known for his reach, effectively utilized his jabs throughout the match to keep Singh at bay. Mudaliar insisted he should have been declared the winner, claiming he dominated every round. The judges scored the fight in favor of Singh, with two judges scoring it 77-72 and one at 78-72.

Prior to the bout, Mudaliar highlighted the necessity for fairness from ring officials. He expressed his readiness for a rematch, urging the commission to mandate one.

In response, Singh shared his intention to seek a fight against an international opponent next. He dedicated his victory to his late grandfather, Jaswant Singh, who passed away the week before the match. Singh acknowledged the fight unfolded as planned while also recognizing Mudaliar as a formidable opponent. He confirmed his participation in an upcoming event with Bluewater Boxing Promotion in November.

In other results from the night, Siliveni Nawai fought to a draw with Semi Tui, Rakuro Daunivavana won by third-round TKO against Ronald Naidu, Samuela Naqari secured a decision over Kolinio Luvelolo, Masitoqi Rokotuva achieved a third-round TKO against Mohammed Ali, Junior Manna drew with Lepani Levatia, and Jnr Abhay Chand won by second-round TKO over Tomasi Vunavou.
