Krishnil Mudaliar was visibly emotional after suffering a controversial points loss to Junior Binnu Singh in the WBF Australasian featherweight title match held at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, on Saturday night. Mudaliar, a former champion in both the bantamweight and super featherweight categories in Fiji, expressed his disappointment, calling the decision a “daylight robbery” and urging for a review of the fight.

Utilizing his reach advantage, Mudaliar consistently landed jabs, keeping Singh at a distance throughout the match. He confidently claimed, “I should be ahead on the scorecard. He (Binnu) never won any round; it was all my rounds from one to eight.” The judges scored the match in favor of Singh with scores of 77-72, 78-72, and 77-75.

Leading up to the bout, Mudaliar had emphasized the importance of fair officiating. He expressed his desire for a rematch, stating, “I’m ready to fight Binnu again for the title,” and called for the commission to order a second match.

Meanwhile, Singh, reflecting on his victory, mentioned his plans to pursue an overseas fight next. He dedicated his win to his late grandfather, Jaswant Singh, who passed away the previous week, stating, “This win is for him.” Singh noted that the fight unfolded according to their strategy and acknowledged Mudaliar as a formidable opponent. He has also confirmed his participation in an upcoming event organized by Bluewater Boxing Promotion in November.
