Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that his office had received a complaint against Permanent Secretary Pita Wise, which he subsequently forwarded to the Permanent Secretary for Civil Service, Parmesh Chand. In a media briefing, Rabuka mentioned that Wise had resigned immediately after a meeting with the Public Service Commission Chairperson, Luke Rokovada. The Prime Minister did not disclose the details of the complaint. He did reveal that he has made several suggestions to the Public Service Commission regarding potential interim candidates for the position. Furthermore, Rabuka encouraged former Permanent Secretaries from the Office of the Prime Minister to express their interest in the acting appointment. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police for Crime, Mesake Waqa, confirmed that no reports have been filed with them. Earlier, the Public Service Commission stated that Wise had voluntarily resigned from the civil service citing personal reasons.
