Viro Primary School in Levuka, Ovalau, has proudly inaugurated a new classroom block that features two classrooms, a significant milestone for both the institution and the surrounding community. The project was fully funded by contributions from Viro’s residents, including those living abroad, showcasing a strong sense of community support and involvement.

At the opening ceremony, Assistant Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Sakiusa Tubuna, highlighted the new classrooms as evidence of the unity and strength within the Viro community. He expressed his gratitude to the school leaders, local residents, and international supporters who made the project possible. Additionally, Tubuna acknowledged the support from organizations such as Bostock New Zealand and Fair Trade USA, whose donations helped facilitate the construction.

In a renewed commitment to improving educational resources, Tubuna announced that the Office of the Prime Minister will also provide over $15,000 worth of furniture and learning materials for the new classrooms. He emphasized that these facilities represent an important investment in the future of Viro’s children. As the new school term approaches, he encouraged students and teachers to effectively utilize the new spaces to enhance their educational experiences.

This initiative mirrors ongoing efforts observed in various Fijian schools, such as the recent construction of additional classroom facilities at Vatukaloko Secondary School and other institutions. These advancements reflect a broader commitment from the Fijian government to improving educational infrastructure across the country.

The positive community response to such developments indicates an encouraging trend in educational advancements in Fiji, fostering hope for a brighter future for students. By investing in modern and supportive learning environments, Fiji is taking firm steps to empower its youth and enhance their educational journeys.
