The Western Disabled People’s Association has a total of 247 registered members, as announced by the association’s president, Ravindra Mani, during their recent annual general meeting in Lautoka.

During the meeting, it was also disclosed that the association received $36,000 worth of food packs from the Punjas Group last year. Mr. Mani stated that the association’s members hail from various locations including Rakiraki, Tavua, Ba, Lautoka, and Nadi, with efforts to expand into Sigatoka.

He expressed optimism about the association’s growth, encouraging more individuals to join. “If you know anyone in your community who wishes to become a member, they are always welcome,” he said.

Furthermore, Mr. Mani highlighted the success of last year’s wheel-a-thon and mentioned a memorandum of understanding signed with the Fijian Elections Office, ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive priority access when voting at polling stations.

“We need to work together as a team to achieve our goals,” he concluded.
