The Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sakeo Raikaci, emphasized that ensuring safety is a collective responsibility shared by the entire community, not just the Fiji Police Force, during the Festive Season Inter Agency Joint Operation workshop. This one-day event, held on Monday, gathered various stakeholders alongside the police to strategize on maintaining safety and security throughout the upcoming holiday season.
Mr. Raikaci urged a united effort to combat crime, stating, “If we want a safe and secure Fiji, we must all come out and put our hands together to fight crime.” He highlighted that maintaining security is a communal concern, and the primary aim of this inter-agency operation is to ensure that everyone can enjoy Christmas peacefully.
Expressing optimism about the collaboration, Mr. Raikaci noted that sharing crucial information among police and various stakeholders would be vital in making this festive season free of crime. Senior Superintendent Kasiano Vusonilawe, Director of Operations, outlined that the initiative will occur in three phases, with the first phase running from November 15 to December 15, followed by the second from December 15 to January 15, and concluding with the final phase from January 1 to February 15 next year.
This proactive approach and emphasis on community involvement reflect a commitment to creating a safer environment during a time typically characterized by celebration and joy, demonstrating a hopeful outlook for a secure festive season in Fiji.
