Communities Unite: Addressing Key Issues at Talanoa Session

Eight District Advisory Councillors (DAC) engaged in a talanoa session with Professor Biman Prasad, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, to discuss the challenges plaguing their regions. The meeting took place in Vuci South, Nausori, where key issues such as drainage, feeder roads, blocked culverts, informal settlements, and drug use were highlighted.

During his address, Professor Prasad expressed deep concern over the troubling involvement of youth in drug-related activities. He emphasized the necessity for not just the government, but also parents and community members, to take an active role in combating these issues.

Professor Prasad assured attendees that he would work towards addressing the problems raised. He also provided insights into certain aspects of the 2024–25 National Budget, clarifying its intended functions and benefits.

He reiterated that the Coalition Government’s primary goal is to support and assist the citizens. Moving forward, more talanoa meetings with grassroots participants and stakeholders are expected in the coming days.
