Combined Brothers Seal 3-0 NCC Win, Focus on Finishing Before Nasinu Clash

The Combined Brothers delivered a commanding performance in their National Club Championship (NCC) pool match against Lami Rangers, securing a decisive 3-0 victory yesterday. This impressive win was significantly bolstered by standout contributions from Amani Verebalavu, who netted two goals, and Dave Radrigai, who added another at the Fiji Football Academy grounds in Vatuwaqa, Suva.

Despite the victory, coach Varoon Karan highlighted some areas for improvement, noting that the team exhibited moments of casual play. “The boys played well, but they could have played better; I think they were too casual at times,” Karan commented. He expressed a desire for a greater goal tally but acknowledged the challenges presented by the team’s lack of training leading up to their first NCC playoff match.

Looking ahead to their next challenge against Friends United FC Nasinu, scheduled for 12pm today, Karan emphasized the need to refine their finishing and reestablish discipline within the squad. “Some areas that we need to do well in is our finishing; that’s the main one that we need to really focus on. And discipline, I think discipline let us down a bit, but we have to sort that out before tomorrow’s game,” he remarked.

The Combined Brothers FC, a proud member of the Suva Football Association, has a rich history, being one of the oldest clubs, established by players from the Samabula area. Their recent qualification for the NCC marks a significant return after a decade-long absence from this level of competition.

The NCC festivities continue today at the Fiji Football Academy grounds, as teams strive to improve and showcase their talents on the field. With each match, there is potential for growth and excitement, making the tournament an exhilarating showcase of local football talent.
