Suva’s Pacific Specialist Healthcare/Nadera Buses Combine Brothers team emerged victorious with a narrow 3-2 win against Nasinu’s Friends United FC in a thrilling match held at the Fiji FA Academy grounds in Vatuwaqa during the Dayal’s Sawmillers National Club Championship. The game showcased intense competition, with both teams locked at 2-2 by halftime.
The turning point came when Friends United was reduced to ten players due to Joseph Mishra receiving a red card for a second booking. This disadvantage allowed Combine Brothers to dominate the latter stages of the match. The crucial moment arrived in the 77th minute when Neerav Goundar scored the decisive goal, sealing a hard-earned victory for the Suva side.
Friends United fought valiantly but struggled to keep pace after losing a player. Team secretary Kapil Swami expressed pride in their journey, reflecting on the significance of qualifying for the National Club Championship after more than ten years. Swami noted that the team’s players predominantly hail from the Samabula area and credited their long-standing supporters for their success.
Swami also praised the team’s resilience, particularly through the Southern zone play-offs, which posed challenges including injuries. He encouraged his players to give their all on the field, and his faith in their hard work throughout the season paid off with this win.
Extending his gratitude, Swami thanked the players for their dedication and acknowledged the support from their sponsors, Pacific Specialist Healthcare and Nadera Buses Limited. Looking ahead, the Combine Brothers are set to face 4R FC in their next match scheduled for 12 PM tomorrow, aiming to build on their momentum from this triumph.
