Combatting HIV in Serua: A Community Call to Action

The Health Ministry is leading efforts to tackle health issues in Serua Province, particularly focusing on Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), with reports indicating 11 active cases in the area.

This initiative was highlighted by the Assistant Minister for Rural and Maritime Development, Jovesa Vocea, during the celebrations for the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty in Serua.

Mr. Vocea urged community members to remain vigilant and enhance their awareness of the dangers posed by drugs, which contribute to various social problems, including increased crime, domestic violence, sexual assault, and the spread of HIV and AIDS.

He emphasized that the fight against these challenges cannot be faced alone and called for open dialogue, sharing of experiences, and learning from best practices to create a unified effort in striving towards poverty eradication.

Moreover, Mr. Vocea noted that drug issues continue to obstruct societal development, significantly impacting youth. He mentioned that in the past two years, there were two reported instances of illicit drug possession and one case of unlawful drug cultivation within Serua.
