The Vatia cocaine case has escalated significantly, as new allegations have emerged against one of the accused, Sunia Kobululevu. He has reportedly threatened law enforcement with gun violence through social media platforms, leading to charges of conspiracy and unlawful possession of illicit drugs. In a stark video posted online, Kobululevu openly declared an intent to harm police officers from Lautoka to Ba if his confiscated cocaine was not returned.

Kobululevu is one of six individuals who have been remanded in custody by the Rakiraki Magistrates Court due to their involvement in a massive cocaine seizure weighing 2.6 tonnes. In addition to the charges of conspiracy and unlawful possession, he faces a further charge of criminal intimidation associated with his online threats.

The group involved includes Norman Fisher, Manasa Saladrau, Trevis Cheer, Anaseini Rokolati, and Kobululevu, who are accused of colluding to transport and store an impressive 2.6445 tonnes of cocaine. State lawyer John Rabuku indicated that the first phase of disclosure has been partially submitted. The case has now been remanded to the High Court in Ba, where it will be heard alongside 11 other accused individuals on February 27.

This case brings to light the persistent challenges faced by law enforcement in tackling drug trafficking and the alarming trend of threats against police officers. The upcoming court proceedings will be crucial in addressing the growing issues surrounding drug-related criminal activities and ensuring justice is served.
