Coastal Inundation Alert: Southern Fiji Faces High-Tide Sea Flooding

A Coastal Inundation Alert has been issued for all low-lying coastal regions of Southern Viti Levu, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands, including the Central and Southern Lau Groups.

The Fiji Meteorological Service reports that a high-pressure system located far to the Southwest of Fiji is expected to create and direct moderate to heavy Southerly swells over the southern waters of Fiji, potentially leading to coastal inundation in the low-lying areas.

Residents and visitors in these regions can anticipate sea flooding during high tides. The Weather Office warns that coastal inundation may carry debris along these areas, posing a danger to recreational activities.

The next high tide is expected to occur at 8 pm tonight.
