Coastal Inundation Alert Lifted: What’s Next for Southern Fiji?

A coastal inundation alert that was in effect for all low-lying coastal regions of Southern Viti Levu, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands, as well as the Central and Southern Lau Groups, has been lifted.

According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, a high-pressure system situated far south of Fiji is anticipated to gradually move eastward. This shift is generating and directing moderate southerly swells, which has decreased the likelihood of coastal inundation in the southern low-lying coastal areas of Fiji.

The Nadi Weather Office has indicated that there is now a very low to low chance of sea flooding in coastal regions, particularly during high tides.
