A coastal inundation alert that was issued for low-lying coastal regions of Southern Viti Levu, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands, as well as the Central and Southern Lau Groups, has been lifted.
The Fiji Meteorological Service indicates that a high-pressure system located to the far south of Fiji is gradually moving eastward, which is leading to the generation and direction of moderate southerly swells. This shift has decreased the likelihood of coastal inundation in the southern low-lying areas of Fiji.
According to the Nadi Weather Office, there is now a very low to low risk of sea flooding in coastal regions, particularly during high tides.
