Coastal Inundation Alert Canceled: What You Need to Know About Fiji’s Weather Shift

A coastal inundation alert that was previously issued for low-lying coastal regions of Southern Viti Levu, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and adjacent smaller islands, as well as the Central and Southern Lau Groups, has been lifted.

According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, a high-pressure system located to the far South of Fiji is anticipated to gradually move eastward, which will produce and steer moderate southerly swells, thereby decreasing the likelihood of coastal inundation in the southern low-lying coastal areas of Fiji.

The Nadi Weather Office has indicated that there is a very low to low chance of sea flooding in coastal regions, particularly during high tides.
