A Coastal Inundation Alert has been issued for all low-lying coastal regions of Southern Viti Levu, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and the nearby smaller islands, as well as the Central and Southern Lau Groups.
The Fiji Meteorological Service reports that a high-pressure system located in the far Southwest of Fiji is anticipated to create and direct moderate to heavy southerly swells across the Southern waters of Fiji. This weather pattern may lead to coastal inundation in the low-lying coastal areas of the South.
According to the Weather Office, these regions can expect sea flooding during high tides, which poses risks of debris inundation along coastal areas, particularly during periods of high tide. These conditions will also create hazards for recreational activities.
The next high tide is expected at 8 PM tonight.
