A Coastal Inundation Alert has been issued for all low-lying coastal regions of Southern Viti Levu, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands, as well as the Central and Southern Lau Groups.

The Fiji Meteorological Service reports that a high-pressure system located to the far southwest of Fiji is anticipated to produce and direct moderate to heavy southerly swells across the southern waters of the region, potentially leading to coastal inundation in these areas.

According to the Weather Office, residents in low-lying coastal zones of Southern Viti Levu, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and surrounding smaller islands, including the Central and Southern Lau Groups, should prepare for sea flooding during high tides.

Authorities caution that coastal inundation may bring debris onto the shores, which can pose dangers for recreational activities, particularly during high tide.

The next high tide is expected at 8 p.m. tonight.
