A Coastal Inundation Alert has been issued for low-lying coastal regions of Southern Viti Levu, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and neighboring smaller islands, as well as the Central and Southern Lau Groups.
The Fiji Meteorological Service has indicated that a high-pressure system located to the far southwest of Fiji is expected to generate and direct moderate to heavy southerly swells towards the southern waters of Fiji, which could lead to coastal flooding in these areas.
According to the Weather Office, residents in the affected regions can anticipate sea flooding during high tides. They caution that coastal inundation, particularly with debris, poses dangers for recreational activities in low-lying areas.
The next high tide will occur at 8 pm this evening.
