Coalition Confidence: Rabuka’s Vision for Fiji’s Future

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has expressed confidence that his coalition government will endure for several more terms. Speaking in Labasa during the opening of the new Ministry of Sugar Industry and Multi-ethnic Affairs office, he emphasized that his administration is committed to representing the interests of every ethnic group in the country.

Rabuka addressed recent criticisms, stating that last week’s parliamentary voting has been mischaracterized as part of an iTaukei nationalism movement, which he firmly rejected. He highlighted the importance of unity among the coalition members and their shared understanding of the need to fulfil diverse interests, ensuring that the government remains inclusive.

In a demonstration of confidence in his coalition, which includes partners like the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) and the National Federation Party (NFP), Rabuka assured the public that he expects continued backing from these groups. This sentiment aligns with recent reports that coalition leaders are united and focused on long-term solutions for Fiji as they navigate significant national challenges.

The Prime Minister also encouraged the community in the North to utilize the new office located at Macuata House, reinforcing his commitment to engaging with citizens and addressing their needs.

Looking ahead, Rabuka plans to visit New Zealand for discussions with its Prime Minister and to participate in Fiji Day celebrations, as well as take part in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa. These upcoming engagements reveal the government’s commitment to fostering a prosperous future for all Fijians, particularly the youth.

This proactive approach reflects a hopeful sentiment among government leaders, emphasizing their determination to maintain coalition strength and stability while addressing critical issues facing the nation.
