A group of ten local coaches is participating in a five-day Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) B-licence coaching course, Part Two, taking place at the Fiji Football Association Academy in Ba. The course commenced on Sunday and is set to conclude on Thursday, with the objective of boosting coaches’ expertise and enhancing their qualifications.

Coach Educator, Yogendra Dutt, shared insights about the curriculum, stating, “We focus on six competencies: football, leadership, game understanding, player development, coaching process, and the development of a personal football philosophy.” The program is designed to foster growth among coaches and equip them to tackle new challenges in their coaching careers.

This session builds on the B-licence Part One course, which was completed in December 2023 at the Suva Academy. The current training is being led by Dutt alongside national coach Rob Sherman, providing a blend of experience and knowledge to the attendees.

The participating coaches hail from various clubs, including Ronil Kumar (Ba), Babs Khan (Suva), Roderick Singh (Rewa), Saiyad Ali (Navua), Rozal Hussain (Savusavu), Johan Leewai (Labasa), Mohammed Asif Khan (Nadi), Dhiren Chand (Ba), Shawal Prasad (Tavua), and Alvin Chand (Labasa).

This initiative reflects a commitment to developing coaching skills within the region, ensuring that local coaches are well-prepared to contribute to the growth of football in Fiji and beyond. The enhancement of coaching standards may lead to improved player performance and a stronger football community, fostering a vibrant sports culture in the future.
