Joanne Morgan, a former Australian Diamond netball player, is joining the Baby Pearls’ coaching team, led by Head Coach Simone Nalatu, for a five-day high-performance camp that commenced yesterday. This initiative underscores Netball Fiji’s dedication to enhancing the level of elite netball in Fiji and adequately preparing players for future international challenges.
Morgan brings a tremendous wealth of international experience to the camp, having previously represented Australia at the highest competitive levels. She also has extensive coaching experience, including leading roles in the Queensland Pathway system and assisting the Tongan Tala during the inaugural PacificAus Sports Series. Her Cook Island heritage through her grandmother fuels her passion for fostering netball in the Pacific community which makes her contribution to the Baby Pearls particularly meaningful.
Netball Fiji President RubyAnn Sorovaki expressed excitement about Morgan’s involvement, highlighting her potential to inspire the next generation of netball stars in the country. The camp will also include participation from club and district coaches, providing a rich learning environment for both players and coaching staff alike.
The Baby Pearls are eagerly gearing up for significant upcoming competitions, such as the Ruby North Series and the Netball World Youth Cup later this year. The development initiatives being implemented during this training camp are essential as they provide valuable competitive exposure and skill enhancement for these young athletes.
Fans can look forward to watching the Baby Pearls, as their preparation not only showcases their current talent but also lays a foundation for the future of netball in Fiji. The initiative reflects a hopeful commitment to the sport’s growth and the development of Fijian athletes on the international stage.
