“Coach Emphasizes Playing Style Ahead of All Blacks Showdown”

FIJI Water Flying Fijians coach Mick Byrne stresses the importance of concentrating on their own game instead of overly focusing on what the All Blacks are doing. He believes that by leveraging their strengths and seizing opportunities, they can effectively compete against the formidable All Blacks team.

Byrne recognizes the increased depth of the squad, crediting the experience gained by Northern hemisphere players who regularly compete against top international teams. “Our Northern hemisphere players face tough matches against teams like France, England, and Ireland every week, providing them with constant international-level tests, which is excellent preparation for facing the All Blacks,” said Byrne.

He also highlighted the positive impact of adding the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua team to their roster, which has brought more professionalism and depth to the squad. “Our squad has significantly improved in depth, which is great news. As we prepare to face the All Blacks, our focus will be on our own game, ensuring we play to our strengths,” he added.

Fiji will take on the All Blacks at 2:30 pm next Saturday at Snap Dragon Stadium in San Diego.
