Clothes for Good made a significant gesture of goodwill by donating $5,000 to the Nasole Housing Assistance Relief Trust (HART) Community on Wednesday. This American organization is notable for being Fiji’s first non-profit preloved clothing store, with locations in Nabua and Lami, just outside Suva.

The mission of Clothes for Good extends beyond retail; the profits generated from their operations are reinvested into local charities, addressing a variety of community needs. Founder Hayden Ostrom emphasized, “Our business is centred around charity, helping communities like Nasole HART grow and raise their standard of living.”

Ostrom noted the importance of reaching out to communities facing economic challenges, aiming to uplift society from the grassroots level. He highlighted that purchases made at their stores contribute to meaningful change in the lives of those in need in Fiji. “We are the first store in Fiji where all profit from our stores goes to helping those in need here,” he explained.

The recent donation will be allocated to crucial community improvements, specifically to repair fences that have been vulnerable to break-ins, contributing to the safety and security of residents. Ostrom remarked, “Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home, especially in a community that includes survivors of violence.” Additionally, a portion of the funds will be used to upgrade a leaky community hall, vital for educational activities for local children.

This donation is a commendable step towards fostering a more secure and supportive environment in the Nasole community, highlighting the positive impact of socially responsible businesses in addressing local challenges. The collaborative spirit shown by Clothes for Good exemplifies how businesses can contribute to community development, and hopefully, this initiative will inspire others to follow suit in making a difference.
